Building A Personal Hanger? Some Safety Equipment You Need To Include

If you are in the process of building your own personal hanger for your small aircraft, there is some safety equipment that you are going to want to make sure that you include in your hanger. This safety equipment will protect you and anyone else who ever does work in your hanger.
Eye Wash Stations
When working on an aircraft, there are a variety of fluids that one could come into contact with that one does not want to get into one's eyes. If you plan on doing any mechanical work at all on your aircraft, including something as simple as gassing your aircraft up, you are going to want to make sure that you have an eyewash station in your hanger.
An eyewash station will allow anyone who gets something in their eyes that they shouldn't a way to flush and clean their eyes in a safe environment. Eyewash stations have special faucets that are set-up specifically for washing eyes.
Chemical Spill Kits
Second, you want to make sure that you have the resources to deal with a chemical spill. If any chemicals were to spill in your hanger, you would want to be able to clean them up right away in a safe manner.
To clean up a chemical spill, you need the right tools. To get the right tools, you need to purchase a chemical spill kit. If a chemical spill occurs in your hanger, you don't want to have to wait to get the tools to take care of the issue, you want to be able to clean the chemicals up quickly before they harm anyone.
Hazardous Waste Disposal
Third, you need to have a way of dealing with hazardous waste. Just by working on your aircraft, you are likely to produce hazardous waste. You can't just throw hazardous waste into the trash can with your other garbage. If you do that, you risk facing fines, and you will damage the environment.
Instead, you need to make sure that you have hazardous waste containers and bags to deal with any hazardous waste that your hanger produces.
First Aid Kit
Finally, every workplace should have a first aid kit. Make sure that your first aid kit is full of material that you would actually need in a large emergency, such as lots of gauge and hydrogen peroxide. You need more than a basic first aid kit that you would throw in your bag when you go to the beach. You need a first aid kit that could deal with serious cuts or burns that could occur in a hanger.
As you build your personal hanger for your aircraft, make sure that you think about how to keep yourself and others safe. Be sure to include space for an eye washing station, and make sure that your hanger includes a chemical spill kit, hazardous waste disposal containers, and an extensive first aid kit.
