How To Perform Industrial Component Inspections

Deann Hunter

Reviewing the steps needed to manufacture a product and performing industrial component inspections that assess the physical properties of raw goods and the manner in which they are handled and stored can reduce costly errors. Use the following guidelines to perform an analysis of the industrial components that are utilized within your place of business.

Manufacturing Steps

Omitting any steps that are essential to manufacturing a product could result in product malfunctions or premature wear of essential components. All of the manufacturing guidelines that your employees are required to adhere to should be clearly documented. The steps can be added to an employee manual or can be posted within the area where manufacturing steps take place.

To ensure that everyone is following the steps, you should assign a quality control personnel member to oversee operations. This person should make sure that materials are handled properly and that job duties are performed in their entirety. Manufacturing steps that require the use of heat or that require that chemical components are added to raw goods should be handled responsibly. Any differentiations in the manner in which a manufacturing task is conducted could result in products falling apart or not operating in the manner intended.

Inspections

If you outsource raw materials that are ultimately used to manufacture a line of goods, ensuring that the raw materials are in the shape they should be in is a critical part of the manufacturing process. Testing equipment can be used to determine the composition and size of a product. The chemical properties, color, and texture of the material should be assessed. When new materials are received at your place of business, efforts should be made to guarantee that no foreign materials are present.

For instance, if you sell items that are marketed as being all-natural and safe for human consumption, it is imperative to inspect the materials and make sure that there are no materials in them that could compromise the quality or safety of a manufactured good. Automated sorting and sifting equipment and testing devices can aid with assessing raw goods. Raw materials should be stored properly.

Considerations about the temperature or ventilation that is within a storage room should be monitored. AI (artificial intelligence) equipment can be used to assist with various monitoring applications. Automatic equipment will perform analyses in real-time. If investing in AI equipment is not feasible, an outside company should be hired to perform comprehensive inspections.
